Frequently Asked Questions

In simple terms, Sleep Apnea means, poor breathing in your sleep. You may have episodes where your breathing stops and OR episodes of shallow breathing that leads to low oxygen in sleep. It is best to have a sleep consultation to determine if a sleep study is needed to find out if you have sleep apnea.
There are 2 types of sleep studies; Home sleep study and In-lab sleep study called Polysomnogram. Home Sleep Study (HST) is performed in the comfort of your home. The HST kit can be mailed to you or picked up from clinic and completed overnight and sent back or dropped off in clinic.
The polysomnogram or in-lab study is done in the sleep lab. This is usually done when further investigation is needed beyond the HST and for the adjustment of sleep devices.
